NFC Business Cards Netherlands — How NFC Works and Which Phones Are Compatible

NFC Business Cards Netherlands from Lets Connect. Delivery in 3–5 business days, from €35. Prices shown in EUR (€), inclusive of BTW. Card, iDEAL, and PayPal accepted.

How the tap actually works

Inside every Lets Connect business card is an NTAG216 chip and a coiled copper antenna. When the recipient's phone comes within 2–4 cm of the card, the phone's own NFC reader energises the chip (the card has no battery), reads a stored URL, and prompts the phone to open it in the default browser. There is no pairing, no Bluetooth handshake, no app install — the whole exchange is < 200 ms.

Compatibility in Netherlands

  • iPhone 7 and newer — reads NFC tags in the background as long as the screen is on and unlocked. The banner appears at the top of the screen; a tap opens the profile.
  • iPhone XS and newer — reads NFC from the lock screen too, no unlock required.
  • Android — every phone sold in Netherlands in the last six years supports NFC. Most read from an unlocked home screen without opening any app.
  • Fallback — the printed QR code on the reverse of the card covers older phones and anyone with NFC disabled in settings.

What the chip stores (and doesn't)

The chip only stores a short URL that points at your hosted Lets Connect profile. It does not store your contact details directly — that would mean reprinting the card every time you change job or phone number. Instead, the URL is fixed and the profile behind it is edited online. This is why the card in Netherlands keeps working for years without a reorder.

Frequently asked questions

Does the NFC business card need charging?
Never. NFC is a passive technology — the chip draws its power from the recipient's phone during the tap. There is no battery inside the card to replace.
Which iPhones in Netherlands can read it?
Every iPhone from the iPhone 7 onwards. iPhone XS and newer can also read the tag from the lock screen. The QR fallback covers older devices.
Can the NFC target be changed after the card ships?
Yes — update the destination URL from the Lets Connect dashboard at any time. The chip itself is not re-flashed; it points at a stable short URL that you re-route online.
Is the chip locked so nobody else can rewrite it?
Yes. Every Lets Connect business card ships with the NTAG216 chip in locked mode, so no third-party phone can overwrite the destination URL. Only you, from your account, can change what the card resolves to.
How reliable is the tap in a noisy environment?
NFC is near-field, so wifi, Bluetooth and other radio interference in a busy Netherlands event hall have no effect. As long as the phone is within 2–4 cm the tap succeeds.
